Katharina Friedrich

Katharina Friedrich studied food chemistry at the Technical University of Braunschweig from 2014 to 2019 and then completed the second state examination for food chemistry at the Lower Saxony State Office for Consumer Protection and Food Safety (LAVES).

In 2020, she moved to the Association Quality Management Biodiesel (AGQM Biodiesel) as quality manager and was the contact person for the member companies for quality and analytical issues as well as for the international round robin tests FAME and vegetable oils and the additive tests (no-harm tests).

In October 2024, Ms Friedrich took over the management of AGQM Biodiesel. In addition to managing the association's business and representing AGQM on various committees, Ms Friedrich is actively involved in standardisation work at national and international level.

Dr.-Ing. Andy Gradel

Andy Gradel completed his doctorate in chemical process engineering at the University of Bayreuth in 2020 and subsequently founded BtX energy GmbH, which is now the technology leader in biohydrogen production. Until December 24, he was deputy head of the Institute for Hydrogen and Energy Technology at Hof University of Applied Sciences and continues to volunteer on various IHK committees and as a moderator in the BMWK hydrogen research network.

Dr. Armin Günther

Air Liquide Engineering & Construction   

Armin Günther studied chemistry at Goethe University Frankfurt, worked at the Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (CNR) in Bologna, received his doctorate in chemistry in Frankfurt and worked in atmospheric research. He headed the department for project management and renewable energies of an engineering company and was responsible for national and international projects in traditional plant construction and renewable energies. At LURGI AG he held various functions and positions such as Director Market Group Renewables and e.g. Director Innovation & Development and Director High Temperature Center (HTC) at Air Liquide Global E&C Solutions. He is an international technical expert for the Air Liquide Group and currently holds the position of Director New Technologies & Energy Transition.

Marlene Hermfisse

Marlene Hermfisse is Head of Berlin Office of the eFuel Alliance e.V. at the Berlin office and is responsible for following current policy developments on the topic of eFuels especially in Germany. Marlene holds a B.A. in Economics and Slavic Studies from the Humboldt-University of Berlin and a M.A. Eastern European Studies with a focus on politics from Freie Universität Berlin. She previously worked for the German Eastern Business Association (Ost-Ausschuss der Deutschen Wirtschaft), where she gained experience in association work. She is a consultant at von Beust & Coll. Beratungsgesellschaft.

Hartmut Höppner

After graduating as engineer in agriculture at the Comprehensive University of Kassel and
environmental scientist at the Friedrich-Schiller University in Jena, Hartmut Höppner started
his career as a research assistant of the UNEP/UNESCO/BMU International Postgraduate
Training Programme on Environmental Management at the Technical University of Dresden.
From 2000 to 2021 he worked at the German Bundestag before he served in various
positions as Managing Director and Spokesman of the Rhineland-Palatinate FDP, Deputy
Spokesman of the Rhineland-Palatinate state government and as high political coordinator
on Minister level.
Since 2022, Hartmut Höppner is State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Digital and
Transport.

Jörg Hübeler joined Neste in 2021 and is responsible for global Market Development for the transportation sector and industry. Previously, he worked for over 15 years in the automotive industry in various functions and at various companies, including Niterra and DaimlerChrysler. Jörg Hübeler has a degree in industrial engineering.

Dr. Rainer Jansen

Dr. Rainer Janssen is Managing Director Projects and Consulting at WIP Renewable Energies and Senior Expert in innovative bioenergy and bioeconomy solutions, renewable energies and sustainable energy systems.
He graduated in Physics (Dr. rer.nat.) at the Technical University of Munich, Walter Schottky Institute, Germany and performed studies at the University of Toronto, Canada.

He was member of the Steering Committee of the RHC ETIP (European Technology and Innovation Platform on Renewable Heating & Cooling) and served as Vice-President and Chair of the Biomass Technology Panel from 2013 until 2018. Finally, from 2018 to 2023 Dr. Janssen was President of EUREC, the Association of European Renewable Energy Research Centres aiming to support the development of innovative technologies and human resources to enable a prompt transition to a sustainable energy system. Finally, since 2012 he serves as bioenergy expert and adviser for the GIZ providing short term and ad hoc policy advice on national and international developments in the field of biomass, bioenergy, biofuels and the bioeconomy.

REDcert GmbH

  • Since its foundation in 2010, Managing Director of REDcert GmbH, which was founded by the leading associations of the agricultural and biofuel industry to establish an industry-based certification system for sustainably produced biofuels and bioliquids under the European Renewable Energy Directive.
  • Also responsible for the subsidiary Sustainable Resources Verification Scheme (SURE), which was founded by REDcert in 2019 as a joint venture with the European umbrella organization Bioenergy Europe and focuses on the sustainability certification of solid and gaseous biomass for electricity and heat generation.
  • Responsible for the SeedGuard certification system for seed treatment facilities and the supporting organization of the same name
  • For almost 20 years, responsible for ORGAINVENT GmbH, which operates the only testing system for the origin labeling of meat in Germany.

Siegfried Knecht

Siegfried Knecht (65), aireg CEO and VP Director R&T Affairs in the Airbus Public Affairs Germany Department, has over 15 years of experience in the aerospace industry and over 25 years of political lobbying expertise.

In September 2013 he was appointed as VP Head of Political and External Affairs for Airbus (commercial airplanes) in Germany. He held responsibility for all political matters related to Germany with a particular focus on German and foreign government officials, parliamentarians, business associations and think tanks.

Following an 18 months interim stage in the Airbus Corporate Technical Office, he joined in July 2017 the Airbus Public Affairs Germany team as VP Director R&T Affairs and resumed his functional reporting to the Airbus CTO.

In June 2011 Siegfried accepted the honorary appointment as Chairman of the Board of aireg, the Aviation Initiative for Renewable Energy in Germany.

Susanne Köppen

Susanne Köppen, Landscape ecologist, has been a research associate at ifeu since 2007 and is project manager in the team “Sustainable Biomass” department. She focuses on sustainability aspects relating to the use of biomass for energy and materials. Since the RED came into force, she has been supporting various stakeholders, particularly in its implementation and further development. This includes advising the responsible ministries on national implementation aspects as well as cooperating with and advising authorities and certification bodies on practical aspects, in particular on calculating greenhouse gas emissions. This also includes the creation and support of corresponding calculation aids at national level (the so-called ENZO2 tools).

In addition to the derivation of biomass potentials, other focal points include the modelling of greenhouse gas emissions at sectoral level (with the help of the Agriculture and LULUCF Model (ALMOD) developed by her) and the derivation of sustainability criteria for biomass and bioenergy at national and international level, as well as the derivation of prioritization criteria within the framework of the bioeconomy.

Daniel Koslowski

Daniel Koslowski has been with VTA Software & Services GmbH and its predecessor companies since 2006. He is Head of Decarbonization & Application Development and has been an authorized signatory since the beginning of 2024. In these roles, he manages strategically and operationally complex projects and controls software development in various areas. He is an experienced project manager and software developer with a degree in computer science (FH) and a certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) according to PMI standards.

His many years of expertise include software development and architecture, particularly in the areas of dispatch automation, control systems (WinCC), customs and tax applications, quantity balancing and sustainability management.

Daniel Koslowski has extensive knowledge of regulatory requirements such as RED / RED II at EU level. His knowledge of German legislation and regulations includes the Federal Immission Control Act (BImSchG), the Federal Immission Control Ordinance (BImSchV), the Biofuel Sustainability Ordinance (Biokraft-NachV) and the Fuel Emissions Trading Act (BEHG). In Austria, its portfolio includes the Fuel Ordinance (KVO) and related laws and ordinances.
