Review - Fuels Of The Future 2024
During the two days of the 21st Conference on Renewable Mobility, everything revolved around new trends and potential uses of renewable fuels. Over 660 participants from 31 countries accepted the invitation from the five German biofuel industry associations to find out more about the technology-open expansion of all renewable drive options such as biofuels, e-fuels and e-mobility at the two-day international conference “Fuels of the Future”.
The participants at the congress are sending the clear message that, in view of the need to catch up on climate protection in the transport sector and the global vehicle population of around 1.3 billion vehicles with combustion engines, there is no way around a ramp-up of alternative fuels. Even if electric vehicles dominate new car registrations in the future, climate protection solutions will be needed for non-electrified areas of application such as aviation and shipping, machinery in agriculture and forestry or heavy duty traffic as well as the vehicle fleet with combustion engines. The Chairman of the German Bioenergy Association, Artur Auernhammer, emphasized at the opening of the congress that sustainable biofuels such as biodiesel, bioethanol or biomethane currently make the greatest contribution to climate protection in transport, but that in future other options that can be used in the existing infrastructure would have to be added, e.g. e-fuels and HVO.
The associations who organised the conference would like to thank all partners and participants for the successful conference and gripping discussions. The 22nd International Conference on Renewable Mobility “Fuels of the Future 2025” is planned as an in-person event on 20th and 21st January 2025 in Berlin.
Interview with young talent award winner Madhumita Gogoi Saikia
The Young Talent Promotion Award is presented to young researchers every year as part of the international "Fuels of the Future" conference. This award recognizes their student research into the promotion of alternative fuels and mobility solutions, particularly with regard to the challenges of the aviation sector.
The academic path of this year's award winner, Madhumita Gogoi Saikia, from her Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering at Gauhati University, India, to her PhD in Sustainable Energy and Technologies at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano (Italy), demonstrates her commitment to promoting sustainable practices.
